The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day that got much better

As we have every morning since arriving early last week, we went for the free breakfast in the hotel. We arrived and there were no clean tables. I was going to just wait but the waitress encouraged us to get our food while she cleaned off tables for us. While the kids got their food I waited/watched to see when our tables were ready. I watched the waitress clearing plates from folks that were still eating... but no cleaning a table for us (I kept smiling). The kids had all their plates ready and still no place to sit (I continue smiling). Waitress pushes together two tables (mismatched sizes that won't really fit 7 of us) and cleans them off (I continue to smile). I get my food and return to our table to find that my kids still haven't been given silverware.... so without saying a word (and maybe not smiling anymore) I proceed to take clean silverware place settings from dirty tables... I bring a few over to our table and the waitress got all bossy with me telling me to PUT THEM BACK since she would get them for us. ... sorry but a waitress (or any person that I am going to tip) does not boss me around.... we left right there and then... I was not going to eat the free breakfast....
But the day got better -
*good breakfast at Hardees, smiling/friendly cashier and manager.
*borrowed mattresses, cots and cooking stuff from two homeschool moms (one a longtime friend and one just met in person today)
*good lunch at Arby's , smiling/friendly cashier
*did my second run to the commissary, friendly cashier and bagger
*dinner at Applebees, waitress misunderstood and tossed out our leftovers (almost an entire meal's worth since two didn't finish), she apologized and manager took both off our bill. I will go back there again.....

and two dinner invites - one for Friday and another for Saturday night. I have been blessed.

Dorothy,
I was thinking that I'm so "not DeEtta" - I just don't think to carry my camera. :)

Ah! Life in the USA:>) I love discovering new places again. It almost (almost) makes me want to move again....then again, maybe I won't.

LOL - So glad the day got better. De'Etta has a little pocket camera that sits in her purse as Mike got tired of the Nikon being drug from pillar to post. ::snort::

I've been surfing blogs and realize I have LOTS of candid photos but they are not great quality...I may have to go back to taking less but better. ::snort::
