Just life....

I just haven't been blogging as much lately; I guess we're in a bit of a lull right now. Madeleine spent this past weekend at the Mississippi University for Women at a leadership conference, James is going this weekend to a Boy Scout lock-in, Abigail is rehearsing for Monster in the Closet (she auditioned for Princess and the Pea but they went with older princesses and shorter attendants), Theresa had an American Heritage Girl meeting yesterday where they continued to work on their Bible Basics badge and John is gearing up for the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.

Renee, you've updated about the kids but what's new with you?

Me? Well I am still volunteering with Teen Youth Group and Wed night Bible study. I asst with Theresa's troops; I've been put in charge of signing off badgework in their books. And my latest endeavor is sewing monster costumes for theater; I have been sewing purple, orange and green furry monster heads and shoe covers - and surprisingly they look pretty good. I give most of the credit to Jim - he designed and cut out the patterns.

What are some activities the teen youth group have been doing? I'd love to see photos of the costumes!

I was scarred for life after Home Ec in 8th grade and can't sew to save my life.

Last weekend a wonderful lady in our parish (also a homeschool mom) came to talk to the youth about the value of life. It was an awesome presentation. We also watched a music video by Mark Schultz and dedicated our meditation/prayer room to Rebecca (the infant dd of a youth group "graduate") who died of SIDS last month.
The week before the teens put on a skit (I think it was from LifeTeen materials) about hypocrisy and we had small group discussions.
This coming week is a just for fun week - Super Bowl Party.
If you had Mary (my adopted "mom" in TX) teach you how to sew; you would not be scarred for life. I promise
