A New "W" Girl

(guess we should have cleared off the bed for a prettier picture; wall needs pics as well)

Another chapter in the life of Madeleine has begun. On Saturday morning at approx 8am CDT, we embarked on a journey to Mississippi. With Mom, Dad, Theresa and John in the lead car and Madeleine following behind in her Ford Focus with James we took a 3 hour drive (hear the music but really it's more like 3.5 hrs). Upon our arrival, we were greeted by Carlee (her admissions counselor) and Madeleine's belongings were quickly carried to just outside Room 109 in Grossnickle Hall. In a short time, furniture was rearranged, boxes were unpacked, and forgotten items were purchased at Walmart. College President Limbert even stopped by to say hello; don't think that happens at big universities. Then it was a return voyage to Alabama minus Madeleine who will begin her college career at Mississippi University for Women (possibly to be known as Reneau University in the future).

(outside her new residence for the next two years)

PS: I didn't mention Abigail because she was busy being a Royal Dancer in the King and I so she was unable to come for the bon voyage caravan.

Can you believe you actually have a freshman daughter? I hope whe will enjoy the University- at least half as much as Ruth did (OK- more than Ruth. I am not sure that is possible!)

Time sure does fly..... I was getting married when my mom was my age.
I pray that Madeleine comes away from the W as smart and educated as Ruth is... she's an incredible woman. I hope you get to meet her in person some day

Her room looks big! I hope she loves it there.

I wouldn't say big but it's adequate; they would have more space if they bunked but neither of them wants to do that....... there's enough room between the beds for Amy to fully open her under the bed drawers and the desk is on the other side of her bed. Their closet doors open up against the end of their beds.

Renee,

Was that a tough thing to do, to leave her there? Or had you got used to the idea? How often do you think she might come home to visit?

It was tough Dorothy. Looks like she'll come home about once a month this semester (3 day weekend in Sept, 4 day weekend in Oct, Thanksgiving in Nov and then she'll be home from the first full weekend in Dec until about the same in January)

I think we're all slowly adjusting to having one less person in the house.
