Plain Wisdom

I love Amish fiction so I decided to take a chance on non-fiction written by an Amish woman (Miriam Flaud) and an Amish fiction writer (Cindy Woodsmall) and am glad I did. Plain Wisdom is an enjoyable read that can be picked up from time to time or read all at once. Each 'chapter" begins with a Bible verse and then a short story or more like a memoir by each woman. The topics ranged from faith to family to education and recipes were even included.

I think the most amazing part was how these women from two different walks of life became friends and then wrote a book together. Although their backgrounds are quite different, their writings seem to fit and flow together - as if a quilt designed by God himself. I love how Cindy and Miriam are able to respect each other's differences while celebrating their common love of the Lord.

If you enjoy Amish or other Christian fiction, you will enjoy Plain Wisdom.

You can read an excerpt from Plain Wisdom here.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
