This is only our third time buying a house - sounds like a lot but remember this is the 11th place that dh and I have lived since getting married 19+ years ago. The first time we bought was in GA; I think we used the same realtor that Scott's boss had used the previous year. She was adequate - nothing great but nothing bad.
Then in FLorida, we got really really lucky. I had been emailing multiple realtors from Korea and most ignored me or acted as if they didn't think I was serious about buying a home. We ended up with a fabulous realtor that was also a friend to our family. She brought us fudge at Christmas, gave the kids armbands for the church carnival and then sold our house two years later in a falling market. We still keep in touch.
Once more we need a realtor - so far I haven't got any recommendations from folks I know still in the Huntsville area. Our FL realtor doesn't know anyone but she's going to ask around. My options are "eeny meeny miney mo" or try USAA Mover's Advantage program and hope they hook us up with someone good. I would love to get my hands on church bulletins to see if any parishioners are realtors.... oh well I'm just rambling.... off to read a book and stop looking at $14,000,000 houses :)

Renee, what about emailing the church in your area to ask for realtors who advertise in the church bulletin?
If your freind in Fl works for a large company, they should be able to help find someone in Ala. If not, my sister works for one and I can ask her for you.
Dd's riding instructor moved to Rogersville about 15 years ago so I could try and find her and see if she has any ideas.
Ah the fun - praying.
Check out www.hismove.com. I used this on a TOTAL lark when we were considering moving and ended up with an AMAZING Christian realtor. If we'd have used the big realty company referral we received from our Colorado realtor, we would have lost this house.
I'm praying for God to match you up with a great realtor!
We have a realtor. We decided to go with USAA's moving program. They have gotten us in touch with a realtor that is a native of the area - so she knows all the ins and outs of which are good neighborhoods.
Sorry. I can't help you there. We've never needed a realtor before.
Oh.. and I just noticed the "new do" pic on the side. I like the pic!
