Redeeming Love

I just finished reading Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's a retelling of the book of Hosea (which I now need to read since I don't know that I've ever read it) set in the 1800s - a story of God's unconditional, redemptive, all-consuming love.
It is not your typical Christian fiction. As a matter of fact, I probably wouldn't have let my 16yo dd read it if I had read it first. The preface of the book talks about the story being PG-13; I would say it is a PG-13+
As soon as BookMooch is up and running, this will be available for mooching.

What was it about the book that would have made you not want MJ to read it? I know a lot of it wasn't sweetness and light but evil is punished in the end.

That book is so good! I sat up reading it all night because I couldn't put it down.

I absolutely love Francine Rivers. This was a pretty good book; my favorites are the Lineage of Grace series and the, oh, what's the series that takes place in Rome with the gladiator? Lineage of Grace had a huge impact in cementing and growing my faith; I should see if my library here has them and I can read them again...

I think the only book I haven't gotten into of hers was The Last Sin Eater.

This was the first of FR's books I read and I read it in 2 nights I think it was, I could NOT put this book down. I would agree it was PG 13 and up, but very good.

The series Kristine is referring to is called The Mark of the Lion, I think. I really enjoyed that series and the Sin Eater. I also enjoyed this book that you reviewed and like you I wouldn't have given it to a teen child... maybe an 18 or 19 yo? I bought it as a gift for my mil, preread it, and decided I didn't even want to give it as a gift to her because of the content. That being said, I really enjoyed the book.... just not for giving as a gift... if that makes sense.
