Madeleine is now a Hearin Leader at the W

Just two weeks ago Madeleine went to the Mississippi University for Women for the Hearin High School Leadership Conference weekend. During the conference, there were interviews for scholarships (she's not eligible due to her receiving the Centennial Scholarship) and invitations to join the Leadership Program upon starting college in August. Yesterday Madeleine received her letter that she's been invited to become a Hearin Leader at the W. She's now involved in two campus communities and she doesn't even start college for six months.

The Hearin Leadership Program at MUW is a rich and academically challenging leadership program. Hearin teaches students the commitment, knowledge, and values that will enable them to blaze new trails in their chosen paths. The Hearin Program prepares students to become tomorrow's leaders by focusing on scholarship, leadership development, and community service.

Academically, students develop self-knowledge, self-discipline, initiative, and teamwork. Leadership skills are developed through monthly events that highlight components of leadership. Lastly, Hearin Leaders participate in numerous community service projects that qualify our leaders to positively impact the workplace and the world around them.

W students have distinguished themselves throughout Mississippi, the United States, and the world. As a Hearin Leader at MUW, you will continue this strong and proud tradition

That's wonderful!

(Although I admit to being a little disappointed that we won't be meeting at BC next year.)

I'm disappointed I won't be up there to meet you either. But it just wasn't making financial sense for her to go to a college that far from home for Elem Education; the W (since it's on the border) is familiar with the certification requirements of AL.
