She's more than a singing actress and dancer.....

Not too long ago we saw this ad in the local newspaper:

Do you write?
The Times is taking applications for writers to be a part of our weekly page written by and for teens. We're looking for high school students to tell people what life is really like for teens here in Huntsville.
Be willing and able to write about six stories for publication during the school year. You'll get some guidance and editing, but this is not English class. This page exists to give a teen voice to what is important to teens.
Send a writing sample, up to 100-words, that addresses this issue: What class should your high school offer that it doesn't have now, and why should that class be part of the curriculum? Be creative and thoughtful.

And so Abigail applied. Here is her writing sample:

A Chorus of One

One class I wish my school offered is Chorus. Being homeschooled, we have a student population of four. Not only would this make for a rather small chorus, it is also true that my siblings are not all…..musically inclined. What should be a “chorus” would quickly turn disastrous—imagine a lone freshman trying to sing three different harmonies at once, while a confused audience looks on in horror. You have my permission to shudder. Now that I think about it, a one-woman chorus probably isn’t the best idea. It’s back to the drawing board, I suppose.

And lo and behold, Abigail was selected to write for The Huntsville Times. Her name is listed as HT Staff in today's paper on page C6. Unfortunately they didn't post the list in the online version but keep your eyes open to read six articles by Abigail during the coming year in the Education section on Mondays.
