Strictly Sundays

Strictly Sundays is a beautiful cookbook with glossy pages and full color photos of many of the recipes. It includes recipes for appetizers, salads, soups, side dishes, salsas and main dishes. I was ready to dive in and find a recipe to make this week but I think this cookbook will be put to better use by my husband.

The Main Dish section begins by talking about barbecue including tips as well as recipes for various BBQ sauces and rubs. This is definitely my husband's territory as I don't cook on the grill and I rarely cook beef unless it's ground beef - many of the recipes are for steaks, roasts and ribs.

I have found a recipe that I think will be loved by my Moms' Ministry. In the Side Dishes section, there is a recipe for Tomato Pie that doesn't require anything complicated. It uses Bisquick, milk, cheese, mayo and veggies. I think this is one the ladies will enjoy for dinner. I know my husband is not going to eat a dish that includes heart of palm. :)

The one thing missing from Strictly Sundays is a section of dessert recipes. Every special Sunday meal deserves a gourmet dessert.

Joe Fitzpatrick, the author, is noted as the Blue Collar Gourmet. I find Strictly Sundays to lean more toward gourmet than blue collar eating. If there is a man in your life that loves to cook, I would wrap this up and put it in his stocking this Christmas. Shhhhh, don't tell my husband.

Thank you to Bostick Communications for providing me with a copy of Strictly Sunday to read and review.
