We had bad weather in the area today. These shots were taken from my front porch about 5:30pm. Look toward the bottom third of the pic toward the center. It was getting dark and the distance to those clouds was probably about 10 miles east of my house.
And here is a good pic from the local newspaper.

Ooh, creepy. I am such a wimp about tornadoes.
It's not scary when it's 10 miles away... I will not be taking photos if it's closer.
They are amazing storms- aren't they.Watching them form- hoping no one is injured. The closest I have been is about a mile. The energy in the air is amazing!
Put me in awe.
According to today's paper there were minor injuries and damage. One school in Huntsville is closed but it's because of the amount of debris making it a hazard for kids to get to the school
My husband is looking for jobs in Huntsville; I hadn't thought about tornados, but I think I'd take tornado country over earthquake country (where we now live!)
Paula this is the 2nd tornado to touch down within 10 miles of my house in the past 18 mos.
Oh my! Wow.
Renee! You chose to retire somewhere where both the weather and the wildlife can kill you! You must like living dangerously! LOL!
I need something exciting in my life Dorothy... after all being a mom is just not exciting enough :)
Hm, 2 within 18 months...I hope you have a basement! I'm not discouraged though, we've had our eyes on Huntsville for a couple of years now. Just waiting for the right opportunity.
Paula, no basement nor a storm shelter. We do have a bathroom that's not on an outside wall though
