Vacation in Pigeon Forge (part 3)

Thursday morning found us heading back to the Smoky Mountains - we were headed for the second highest point east of the Mississippi. The temp had dropped to 68* by the time we drove to the top - even then we worked up a sweat walking up to the observation tower. Unfortunately by the time we got up there, the clouds had rolled in so we didn't have a clear view.

We then drove to a moderate trail and hiked it to Arch Rock. I swear I heard bears twice while hiking but fortunately never actually saw any - I would have freaked. The stream water was cold and crystal clear. We decided to stop at this point since we were getting tired and it seemed to become more steep at this transition point.

After hiking, we stopped in Gatlinburg for lunch at Bubba Gumps.
